The Politics of Organizing in Small Town Rural Areas

The police have largely ignored or shown a tacit support for our efforts because they're members of the community. The older crop of officers have been working these streets and seeing the same homeless individuals for in some cases longer than I've been a lot so you know there are relationships there even if it's one mediated by that position of being a police officer. Despite all of their helpful nature they are enforcing local ordinances that criminalize the unhoused despite the ruling out of the Ninth Circuit Court of Martin v. Martin.
