The Shadow of the Military Discourse

Think about army units, how they function. You have disciplined symbolic machine, symbolic order, drill and so on. But as we all know, this is sustained by a kind of obscene shadowing reality which accompanies the official discourse. In every movie about the Marines, you hear them. These songs are characterized by meaningless rhymes combined with sadistic or sexually perverse obscenities. The enigma is again, why does the military discourse need this?
