Historian Jeremy Green says medicine hasn't always been as empirical as you might think. In the last 100 to 200 years, practices that at some point in history were thought medically legitimate included drilling holes into people's skulls and bloodletting. "The only thing that's shameful is when someone doesn't believe that they have the potential for being wrong," he says.
