How Do You Quantify Something as Complex as Interpersonal Emotion Regulation?

How do you take something so complex into the lab in order to be able to study it scientifically? We attachd physiological censers to measure how fast people's hearts are beating, how much they are studying and what ther breating looks like. You record people's fatial expressions and also a little bit of their bodies so we can leader analyze emotional behaviors. One method use, ah, look at moments wher negative emotions are really high on any of those channels, and then count how long does it take for people to return to a basis line? And tet's just one way, and at many, many others.
