The government did not want to fund studies of gay people, and you couldn't ask questions about people's sexual orientation. It just made it really, really challenging to do the science that was needed. The research does become very ueccentric again, you know, it becomes very about mend because it's very much dominated by h ov aids funding. And i think once things like protes and hippotris become accessible in the 19 nineties, and h ov aids becomes a less threatened, potentially less threatening illness, if you can access those medications.
