What Can Western Countries Do on What Kind of Time Scale and at What Cost
The scope for disagreement amongst the western powers is huge, particularly around that whole idea of land of territory. There was briefing going on that there was nervousness on the british side about france, french public opinion and where they might end up. Some one suggested to me that they were at the front of the peleton. So as things stand, i think when we get the communica, the official document at the end of the summit, there'll be lots of warm words in there about agreement. And i suspect something sim er at the nato summit in madrid in the next few days.
