The Importance of Compromise in Dealing With Disagreements
The child is a person in his or her own right. They're a sovereign entity and they're creating their own knowledge. And so when there's a disagreement, what most parents do is simply impose their will on the children. So we don't do that. We find a solution that we both prefer to our original ideas. A compromise is not the solution of a problem. There's no recipe for solving problems full stop.
