What Caused the South Sea Bubble to Inflate?
In the face of public outrage about alleged fraud, robert walpole was named chancellor of the exchequer. Walpole again re structured the national debt including establishing a sinking fund that the nation paid into to help stabilize the economy. Multiple committees investigated and issued reports on the bubbles rise and collapse in 17 21. One big source of criticism was that a lot of officials who had promoted this stock or worked on these debt swaps, had taken bribes to do so.
