The Historical Materialist Reading of the Gospels
The two best guesses for where Mark was written a Rome on the one hand and Syria or Galilee on the other. Some people thinking it was a figure called Mark and we don't really know that much about that figure anyway. So in order to do this historical materialist reading or this kind of history from below, we have to actually account for that genre of the gospels themselves.
