How Do You Calculate the Ledger of Someone Like Thomas Jefferson?
CNN's John Sutter is a professor of history at the University of Virginia. He grew up in Charlottesville, home to one of America's most complicated political figures: Thomas Jefferson. "I'm not sure it's possible to sort of just balance these things out," says Sutter. But he adds that we can still play in response to those who argue for or against taking down his statue.
