Jackass was a huge step for heterosexual men to stop being so frighteningly homophobic. MTV probably greenlit this because it cost no money to make. Like the first movie, they didn't even insure the whole movie. They just insured some of the stunts if they thought they needed insurance. It's really fascinating to look at Jackass and think like, this wasn't supposed to be big.
