What Happened to Tom and the Lakota?

After the Lakota surrendered in 1877, everyone who had not fled to Canada fully in sitting bull was on a reservation. They were occasionally raids for horses - primarily at this point they were black feet travelling to steal horses from the crows. On one occasion he and the crow friend wounded a horse thief and shot another one dead, and when they went to look they realised he was a white man. He continued being a scout for a while, and since his living expenses were fairly minimal, he basically took all the money he made and used to start buying cattle and horses.
