The Adaptive Role of Losses in Parental Brains

Sally Kohn: Do we have any thoughts about what the adaptive role of these losses is? Is it kind of like a house cleaning or pruning kind of thing? So that sort of makes sense that you would lose some volumes. But I also want to point out that we see lots of brain changes in parents, regardless of whether they give birth or not. And there's quite a bit of research on nonbirthing parents that's coming out, which is quite fascinating as well and how their brain changes.
