I think there's a tendency in contemporary environmental philosophy and environmental ethics to really rail against anthropocentrism. And rightly so, I think there're a certain kind ofanthropocentrism that puts a diminished sense of what the human being is at the center of everything. But if we're able to become conscious of our power and freely choose to be beings of love, then I think the earth community would welcome our presence. It's in human beings that freedom and the capacity to love become possible.
