The problem is a, and i'm not faulting you for this, but when you use the term group, you artificially hobble your explanation, right? What do you mean a a group? It isnt. And so groups don't evolve because they are taken apart by a collective action. A conundrum inside the group. Right now, what this leaves us with is a world full of things that look like groups, that appear to collaborate, for which we do not have an explanation. The point is selection there can turn the tables on the individual who would profit at the expense of the other members of the collective.
