Cuba is hardly a worker's paradise. So you go to the parade because that's going to get you what you need to survive. And if you don't, then they mark you and you know you can be in trouble in the near future. What's fascinating about this is we grew up hearing stories about what a communist country is like. But to actually hear it from a young person who was there very recently and it's almost beyond belief that it happens like this.
