A Thousand Ages in Thy Sight Are Like an Evening Gone, Short as the Watch That Ends the Night Before the Rising Sun
The epigram in here is a thousand ages in thy sight are like an evening gone, short as the watch that ends the night before the rising sun. The idea that earth would kind of change and that no nation lasts, but that God endures to it has a lot of resonance in this book. It also is talking about a vast timescale. Our lifetimes are a blink of an eye; everything we think of as permanent and solid now is just going to fall to nothing. And it says necessarily God is the only potential shelter that we can have in the long term from this.
