Some flowering plants do produce sporel pollenin with a pine-like structure. Part of the monocot share similar sporel pollinin with pine. Lee says evolution is not a line and some flower pollens retain obsolete traces of their own history. Other plant researchers agree that Lee's structural work has improved our knowledge of the molecule.
