There are a lot of red state politicians that are now trying to dictate detailed health measures. The country has shifted back way too far in the opposite direction, giving political authorities the right to make these kinds of decisions. Public health needs to be balanced against other kinds of social objectives like employment, economic growth, education, and the like. That's ultimately not a trade-off that can be made by public health authorities on their own. It should have been really made by the White House and by the President.
