The Importance of Noise in Poetry

Baudelaire and Whitman thought about what was the decibel level, I guess, and what they did with those decibels. So, one way you could think of it is a kind of, noise is a rival, but noise is a model in a way. What could it do to poetry and how could it be brought into poetry in a way? It's interesting that these texts were written over 100 years before sound studies emerged as a discipline.
