It is heavily implied that the criminals who Don Quixote freed without thinking about it are out like marauding and doing bad stuff in the countryside. The priest I think is lying when he says that they beat him and the barber up, but they're using that as a way to like, they know that that happened. It's kind of like what if it's going from season one of Avatar to season two of Avatar? "I don't know that the book is gonna end with Don Quixotes coming to his senses"
