The Normandy Landings

Operation Overlord was the invasion of Normandy in Northern France. Easy Company had already moved from Aldeborn south-west to the Apottery airfield so they would know that their involvement in the war was imminent. The paratroopers were loaded onto Douglas C-47 Skytrains and aircraft originally constructed as a commercial liner now being used for military transport. On approach to Utah Beach German artillery opened fire on the aircraft causing the pilots to fly erratically. Bullets pissing the aircraft only accelerated the paratrooper's desire to jump and as soon as they could they did.
