One person is in serious condition with severe burns after having jumped out of their apartment building after it caught fire from an electric scooter. In New York City Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanaugh said in a press conference this week that e-bikes and e-scooters are blowing up in dramatically increasing numbers. She also explained that lithium ion batteries are now the second leading cause of fire fatalities in New York City.
