Social Comparison Theory and Psychology
Social comparison theory was first talked about and proposed in 19 54 by the psychologist named leon feistinge i mase ma. It essentially suggests that people have an innate drive to evaluate themselves, often in comparison to others. We focus on the desire to improve our current status or level of ability. downward social comparison takes place when we compare aself to others who are worse off in some way than us. And so now that thing, which is a totally natural thing and happens to people, you've now associated with people who are worse than you as right? D in all this comes up in all sorts of areas including internalized abelism and body dissatisfaction.
