Military Manpower in France During the First World War
Military manpower was a constant source of concern and discussion within France during the interwar years. Estimates were that there would be almost twice as many German men eligible for military service than there were in France by 1940. While it was very easy to forecast the problem into the future, it was far more difficult to enact a quick fix.
