The Negative Use of Scrutinize

When someone says their idea or what they want to do and you just go, kind of roll your eyes, you're just being very dismissive and very mocking. To scrutinize is used in a negative way; if someone's scrutinizing another person, they're usually noticing negative things. Solicit means to ask or request something often in a very aggressive way. In the United States, it's super common to see on people's houses on the front door a sign that says no solicitors.
