This is the first time in history that the governor's paid for chief judge has been rejected by the Senate Judiciary Committee. This year you've got the governor and the legislature kind of punching at almost near equal weights. Hocha wants to fund the MTA through aggressive taxes on working New Yorkers while the legislature wants those taxes to be put on the wealthy. Weirdly enough, everyone agrees that Belmont racetrack should get a bunch of money but Hochl wants to do things that are like pretty DOA.
