The report said companies could not claim to be net zero if they were continuing to build or finance new supplies of fossil fuels, oil, gas or coal. It also said that they couldn't rely on cheap and often fairly suspect carbon credits or carbon offsets to offset their own carbon pollution. And so all of this is for some companies, it's a lot more than what they had bargained for when they set their net zero targets.

Brussels is pushing EU member states to agree to a $60 ceiling on global purchases of Russian oil and emerging market stocks and bonds are staging a strong rebound. Plus, a push by the UN to tighten corporate rules around net-zero pledges is sending shudders through some boardrooms, and the world’s largest active volcano, Hawaii’s Mauna Loa, erupted this week after lying dormant for nearly 40 years.
