Mycenaean Greece shared a great deal in common with its eastern neighbors, says Andrew Keen. There were perhaps six or seven small states in mainland Greece toward the end of the 13th century BC,. Keen: They might have possibly had an overking analogous to Agamemnon in the Iliad and uniting them from time to time.
