The Myth of the Earth and the Cosmos

In the Middle Ages and Christian period there was this view of the universe that was kind of just laughably stupid, right? It's this geocentric model where the earth is at the middle and all the planets orbit around it. And then along come these astute scientists like Copernicus or Galileo who challenge that view. The story is a little more complicated than we often hear but what's wrong with it?
