What Do You Think of the NTC?
I think there needs to be greater awareness of the lack of past mark. By year four, almost every child should be getting 25 out of 25 because our instructions should be good enough for that to be the case. But we've got some very good mathematicians in the sense of their reasoning and problem solving your ability who didn't do particularly well. And their teachers felt disappointed for them. It's a double edged sword as I think it's so important that children know their times tables but putting that kind of quite a high pressured thing on children and teachers is not necessarily a good idea.
