The Importance of Music in Filmmaking

The music was from everywhere and the people I was making the film about weren't the artists or the songwriters so oh yeah right so I was kind of just begging people to you know come on. Summer of Soul became successful but when we were making it there was no guarantee anybody was ever going to see this film so we were just kind of big borrowing and stealing to try and get the songs in there, he says.
