T Tangy would describe that freshly squeezed orange juice. Pungent does everything to do with the smell. Stale bread is so hard you'd probably break your teeth if you ate it. Rancid describes things like butter which loses its color and taste when rancid. And stodgy means heavy, fat meat or lots of potatoes.
