The Role of Scholars in the Creation of Religions
Neil: pagans based their practices and systems of belief not only on the ancient sources but also and even more directly on the work of those who study the ancient sources. This is so interesting that this phenomena because you really don't see this in other religions where for example a Greek Orthodox person isn't reading Orthodox scholarship to determine how they do their religion. I think that's very fascinating to understand how the sources that scholarship produces.
