i have a theory that there is a fairly simple explanation. It is that shakespeare did prepare and order the poems with the expectation that they would be published, but only after he was dead. So what is the evidence that supports this explanation? Whell, for one thing, there is internal evidence within the poems. But also, at the same time, all of these signs, in the dedication, in the edition, of a lover's complaint,. All of these countervailing signs indicating that it wasn't authorized and that they were printed without shakespeare's approval or knowledge.
