I was thinking of myself as this idealized agent. I think that the right moral or one right moral to draw from this story is that we don't really catch ourselves deviating from ideals. We don't catch ourselves. And because it's a little bit like why you can't make promises to yourself because you'll just let yourself out of the promise. So just be like, okay, self, I release you.
