Shankaracharya says existence is still there, but it is not manageable without a name or form. Our deep sleep experience is experience of existence, but without any particular form. Everything smashed together into one singularity. That's our deep sleep. The bear isness continues everywhere. So this is the meaning of reality according to Vedanta.
