The Intelligence Is Spiritual, but the Body Isn't
The body is not just a complete self state, it's the vehicle for expressing our spiritual emotions. The intelligence by its very nature is designed or oriented to cooperate with the body. Jesus goes right to the start when asked about sexual ethic and says that marriage is a one flesh union. So this one, the flesh, you know, isn't just sort of stuff that we're using but part of who we are.
