The Freedom Democracy and the All White Party
Lindon johnson was afraid he'd lose support among white southerners if the freedom democrats were seated. Walter mondale offered a compromise: Two members of their delegation, one black and one white, would be seated as delegates at large. Members of the all white mississippi party were goldwater supporters. After mondale's proposal, all but four of them left the convention.
