The Fall of the Monarchy and the Birth of the Roman Republic
Tarkwiniya Suprebus, the last king of Rome, was a genuine historical figure. We'll never know exactly what happened in the last decade of the 6th century BC,. But we can construct a much more plausible story than what made it into later histories. Viewed from that perspective, the end of the monarchy looks less like political revolution and more a squabble.
