The Opposite of Traction in My Acting Career
I started acting professionally at 10 years old. But all I ever wanted to do was write and direct. So I didn't come from a family with a lot of money. My parents were in academia and modern dance. By the time I got out of film school, I was broke. MTV called me up and they said, we'd like you to guest Vijay the entire afternoon slot as Bill. And I essentially said I would rather stick large knitting needles to my eyes.
