How to Respond to Eco-Anxiety

As a Buddhist, my guidance when it comes to responding to my own eco-anxiety begins with my vow not to kill. The precept text in my Soto's end lineage, the Kyojukayman says, The life of Buddha increases with life. No life can be cut off. Do not kill Buddha. All life is sacred. Sure, we need to kill in order to eat, even if it's just killing plants. But it's understood that any killing comes at a cost and we should do it only when necessary.
