"It's important to have some humor here and there, but sometimes I'm dealing with a topic that is very meaty," he says. "I get the just the deer and headlights look, which is different than the board look" Comedians know whether they're doing well or not in real time; you can't tell unless people are weeping actively. But comedies, there's laughs. You could see if people are enjoying it.
