The Broken Compass
There's a big three and save the cat terms I mean many, many of the gurus have the same stuff right. It's character with a flaw. The need is the lesson they need to learn. The want is the thing that the flawed person thinks will make them happen. So the broken compass is taking this, all these things into account. And again, as a plot driven guy, this is a trick that I found for myself to create more three dimensional stories.
