The Sokel Hoax and the American Public
I would say this, this is the updated version of the Sokel hoax. Alan Sokel's famous hoax that is submitting a bunch of gobbledygook to a magazine publishing Duke University called Social Text. You could just create something out of whole cloth and then see how far you can take it. And I think you'd be surprised at how little it would take to get people to do that. It was the most remarkable period in American cultural history where you could get anyone to react to almost anything in a sort of nervous way. The right thing to do is just to get rid of this thing.
