The Lynching of the Bronx
A school teacher in the bronx named abe mirapal saw the widely circulated picture of this horrific event and threw his outrage and sad sadness into a poem called strange fruit, which he then put to music. When their parents were executed, billy holiday, of course, made the song famous as her best n recording, and one she sang for 20 years. She recalled that her father had been denied medical treatment because of his race - something still happening today.
