Introduction
The book of zachariah is a book written in the context of the rebuilding of the temple. Zachariah's prophecies, along with those of hagai, encouraged the people in this project. In order to re establish the true worship of the temple, the whole temple system had to be established by the lord. And it was not possible for the people merely to rebuild the temple and for it to operate as normal. Rather, the lord had to take the initiative.
