The Development of Black Studies Within the Socialist Movement

In the history of Marxist movements, the central theme was the national question. And so in the 1960s, really, this is kind of post-SNCC and post-SDS, the move left then led people to sort of resurrect the national Question. So every Marxist movement and collective that developed in the late 60s and 70s studied and developed a position on the nationalquestion. But not only that, it was propelled by the fact that there was black agency led by the League of Revolutionary Black Workers in Detroit. There were other tendencies, tendencies that developed in SNCC, out of SNCC came James Foreman and others who were studying Marxism,. et cetera.
