The idea that you need to rank IQ and compare you to others comes from Francis Galton, who was the cousin of Charles Darwin. The intelligence tests were supposed to identify less intelligent people so that you could eventually exterminate them or do something with them. A lot of research has been done into how high a score would improve someone's performance if they had different genes for certain addictions. And it can also go the other way around. You can have a really, really smart individual that tests quite highly on IQ tests but still struggle with addiction too.
