Is Plato's Dialogues the Solution to Modern Rhetoric?

I think that Plato's dialogues are the solution to that kind of modern rhetoric, not necessarily leading to the truth thing. When you actually read through them, you say, wait, why is Socrates contradicting himself? My brain is resisting what he just said. And I was sort of trained in a way to do philosophy or like the point was to like extract the arguments. Whereas then I was taught when I was in my doctoral program by my advisor and dissertation director, Greg Biabout, that you have to see the dialogues as literary inventions.
